Am I ready for this?

It’s a new week and I am more than two weeks into my new meal plan, a keto diet.

When I first opened the email with my new diet plan I was in complete shock. You see, I have been living the life with sweet potatoes, rice, oatmeal, Ezekiel bread and nearly anything else I wanted. However, in my new plan carbs are at a minimum. Can you say shock to the system?

Keto diet is my new plan for this competition prep
It’s a high fat, low carb meal plan

As of right now, my 2018 bikini prep plan is a keto diet, which means high fats and very low carbs.

It’s different to what I am used to for prep. Let’s just say I now get to eat bacon, cheese, salmon and more.

Here’s what some of my meals looks like:

kicking off almost every morning on my keto diet with eggs of some sort

Breakfast has been a delight on and off prep. I’ve been able to get creative with dishes including french toast, egg cup muffins and pancakes. This current plan does not allow those but does allow for omelets with a whole egg versus egg whites. I switch it up with just scrambled eggs or basically a Denver omelet every day filled with mushrooms, onions, bacon and cheese.

Added pea protein to my keto diet instead of whey protein

One of the new things I have added is pea protein, which I mix with water and MCT oil or macadamia nut oil. Pea protein digests easily because it contains no lactose or glutens, which means no bloating. I use to bloat from whey protein pretty bad. Pea protein also is pretty flavorless in comparison to the other whey proteins that I have used. The added MCT oil or macadamia nut oil is for the added fats, which are needed in this plan.

shrimp and sauteed kale is an easy and tasty meal in my keto diet

Some of my favorite meals are the easiest to make. It’s simple to clean some shrimp, sautee it and kale for a quick meal. I’m adding fats with different oils something that I didn’t get to do a lot of my last prep.

This one is not exciting at all but here it is – chicken and a serving of macadamia nuts. Yes, it’s that simple and actually a little boring. Oh well. I’m feeding my body for a purpose.

Salmon and lettuce with oil as my dressing. Again, it’s simple and easy. I season the salmon well before I cooked it. I usually use my cast iron skillet to give it grill marks before putting in the oven to finish off. It leaves it tender and moist with the

The 2018 season plan

My first goal show of the season is the 2018 NPC Charlotte Cup, which is just less than 16 weeks away. And if all goes according to plan it will be followed up by the 2018 NPC Junior USAs in Charleston on May 19.

But before show day comes there is a lot of work to do.

My current physique is far from show day. I am healthy, but still have some work to do.

I have learned a lot in the past two years as a competitor, but competing at the national level means pushing my body new limits.

Have you tried a high fat, low carb diet like Atkins diet?
